Ms. Trealla Epps is proud to serve as the Principal of Poe Elementary School. With over 32 years of experience in education—all within the Houston Independent School District—Ms. Epps is a dedicated and lifelong advocate for student success and equity in education.

A graduate of the University of Houston, Ms. Epps holds a degree in Elementary Education as well as a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. She began her career as an ESL teacher for 1st and 2nd grades, where she quickly developed a deep commitment to supporting diverse learners. Her journey in leadership has included roles as an Instructional Coordinator and Assistant Principal, with service at two other HISD campuses prior to joining Roberts Elementary.

Since becoming principal in 2015, Ms. Epps has worked tirelessly to cultivate a school culture where students feel safe to take academic risks, learning is dynamic and engaging, and inclusivity is a daily practice. Her leadership has helped shape Roberts Elementary into a vibrant, supportive community where both students and staff thrive.
Outside of school, Ms. Epps enjoys cooking, traveling, exploring new cultures, and spending quality time with her family.
